  • Alternative lifecycle models. Classic waterfall development can work on most any project. But is it always the most effective model? This section explores alternative lifecycle models.
    • Waterfall. This is the default lifecycle for all projects, unless it is determined that another of the specialty models is more appropriate.
    • Iterative Development. The solution is completed through a series of iterations. This is not an Agile model, but it is a classic iterative model upon which Agile is based.
    • Enhancements. This model is used when you are modifying an existing solution.
    • Package Selection and Implementation. This model is specifically used if your project requires you to evaluate and implement packages or products.
    • Customer Relationship Management (CRM). This model describes the approach to take when executing a customer relationship management implementation project.
    • Software Releases. This model is used when you are batching together a number of changes into one release package.
    • Research and Development. This model is used when you are performing research on some type of solution.
  • Process models. Review process models for all of the lifecycles mentioned above. This section helps you visualize the workflow of the various lifecycle models.
